Project Details

Problem Statement

There is an information overload and unclear pathway toward resources for users seeking accessible mental health support. This leads to confusion and delays in engaging with helpful tools and services.

Goals

Mindful Support Space addresses this need for a more intuitive, user-centered experience that simplifies access and guides users toward mental health support.

Team

• Lead Researcher: Khrystyna Kis

• Lead Designer: Karyn O'Neill

• Lead Tester & Documenter: Tracey Sanders

Target Audience

Primary:

  • Adults in their late teens and twenties, who are navigating transitions such as entering the workforce, higher education, or increased personal responsibility.
  • They value affordable resources that feel supportive rather than overwhelming.
  • They are looking for healthy coping strategies during periods of change.

Secondary:

  • Midlife and older adults experiencing changes in family dynamics, career shifts, or increased feelings of isolation.
  • They are interested in supportive group environments, educational workshops, and opportunities for personalized exploration.
  • This group may have close connections to the primary audience and are looking for ways to help support them.

Project Plan

Create a lead-generated website for Mindful Support Space. Guide the user to the resource hub's landing page to sign up for a workshop or download a toolkit via an Instragram post add.

Testing & Revised Prototype

Usability Study Testing

We conducted a moderated usability study to test how intuitive the first prototype was. Based on user feedback, respective changes were made on the prototype's next iteration.

Research Goals

Determine how easy users can find workshops, toolkits, and individual therapy sessions.

Testing Process

During February 2026, the moderated usability study was completed where adult students were participants and were asked a series of questions about the ease of navigate the site and locating key features that contribute to the user flows.

Summarized Results

Users successfully completed the usability study's tasks. While no negative feedback was identified during the study, there were opportunities to improve layouts and feature placement.

Updates Made

  1. Reducing amount of text and increasing white space on confirmation pages.Reducing amount of text and increasing white space on confirmation pages.
  2. Adding an abbreviated logo icon to break up areas where there is a lot of text.Adding an abbreviated logo icon to break up areas where there is a lot of text.
  3. Addition of supplemental pages to further explain Mindful Support Space's mission.

Future Considerations

  • Create more landing pages for Mindful Support Space's services to help users gain confidence with the organization. That way, users are more likely to reach out when they are in need of mental health support.
  • Conduct more usability studies comparing webpage layouts and colors to ensure a calming and inviting tone to the website.
